Acts 16: 20-26
Whenever you make up in your mind to stand for God you can rest assure opposition will come and where there's opposition, there's always lies. If what you're saying and doing doesn't benefit others - Look Out! Some people follow you not because of the Christ in you, but because they want to gain from what you've got.
The enemy knew who Paul and Silas were. But most importantly they knew they served the Most High God. Does the enemy know who you are? Is it possible to be so in tuned and connected to God that the demons follow us around and proclaim for us who we know and serve?
Sometimes our faith will take us places and bring us before people that doesn't agree with what we agree with. (Two people can't walk together unless they agree)
One thing that Paul and Silas knew was whom they walked for. Can the world tell whose shoes we are filling when we walk? Do they know when they see you or hear you that you represent something different then who they are?
Can you praise God in the midst of everything you're going through? When you've been shunned, ostracized, talked about, lied on, beaten, bruised, broken and even bound, etc... Can you be like Paul and Silas and have that any huh and any way kind of praise? Got to make up in your mind that no matter what God is to be praised.
In the midst of Paul and Silas being shackled and cast within the prison of the prison, they knew that they could raise a praise and God would come in and unshackle their chains.
Realize that when you praise God that not only are you binding but you are loosing. When Paul and Silas praised God, not only did God come through for them BUT He showed out so that everyone else involved could see.
You know it's something about midnight (which is said to be the darkest part of night) that just when you think it's over, a praise can seep out and turn your mourning into dancing. Only an unshackled praise can cause an Awesome God to come by and personally see what's going on.
So no matter what's going on - when the husband, children, job, finances, body, whatever it is - is not acting right - just give God a praise that's unshackled. Let it flow freely and watch Him shake your foundation and loose every band that had you shackled. Watch Him open doors you never dreamed could be open and not only will He do it for you, but everyone you touch, you pray for, come in contact with, God will loose their bands because of you.
Remember, praise is not about us. Praise is telling a Glorious God that has allowed us to enter Into His Courts that He Is Mighty. Praise is the creature adoring the Creator and revering the Lover of My Soul. It's also the product praising the Manufacturer and giving praise, honor and glory that is due His Name.

Written June 2005. This preceded the poem. I wrote this paper for Sunday School cuz I had to give a presentation. The poem was birthed because of this paper.
